Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) for Adults, Teens, and Youth
This 8-hour training course teaches participants how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. The training gives participants the skills needed to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who is experiencing a mental health or substance use concern.
- MHFA classes are available for adults, teens, and adults working with youth

Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention Resources
This 90-minute training will help individuals identify the warning signs of suicide and explore ways to support individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. Participants will identify strategies for engaging in conversations to help destigmatize mental illness and suicide.

LGBTQ+ Suicide Prevention
This 90-minute training will help participants gain an understanding of culturally competent approaches to working with LGBTQ+ individuals, identify how to recognize warning signs and LGBTQ+ specific risk factors for suicide, and refer people to LGBTQ+ affirming and inclusive resources.

De-escalation and Debriefing
This 90-minute training will guide participants to understand the science and emotional response surrounding de-escalation and how to properly debrief after a stressful event. Participants will explore strategies for managing their own emotional well-being.

Trauma-Informed Care
This 90-minute training will further development in trauma awareness, and increase cognizance related to treatment and care. Participants will be able to identify trauma and facilitate care that is sensitive to a person’s intersecting identities.
- Define trauma and its impact on the brain
- Understand the prevalence and impact of trauma within specific populations
- Recognize the signs and symptoms of trauma in clients, families, and staff

Compassion Fatigue and Self-Care
This 90-minute training will help participants learn about the signs of compassion fatigue and explore the many ways to practice self-care. Participants will have an opportunity to identify their own challenges and create a vision for reducing burnout with realistic tools they can utilize to reduce compassion fatigue. Leaders participating in this session will also be provided with insight into how to best support staff experiencing compassion fatigue. The session will wrap up with an instructor-led self-care exercise.

Improv for Crisis Workers
This is a two-hour immersive course to explore barriers to self-care and identify realistic and personalized strategies to reduce stress and engage in play. Participants will take part in improv exercises and games to further identify the importance of stress reduction.

Stacy Cassens

Manager, Education and Training
Stacy Cassens (she/her), PACE, is the Manager of Education and Training at Solari Crisis and Human Services. Stacy oversees Solari’s education and training program and facilitates internal and external trainings on topics surrounding suicide prevention and mental health. Stacy is a certified instructor for Teen, Youth and Adult Mental Health First Aid and has certified well over 1,000 individuals in this course. She has worked in the behavioral health field for 6 years and has a true passion for training, educating, and mentoring. Stacy is an advocate for mental health and is committed to educating others on the importance of reducing stigma and normalizing the conversation around suicide and mental health.

Sebastian is an Education and Training Specialist III with Solari. Sebastian specializes in generating engaging, interactive eLearning experiences and is a certified instructor for Mental Health First Aid in English and Spanish. He earned a Master’s in Education – Instructional Design and Technologies from Arizona State University. He is an advocate for inclusion and accessibility in training and is committed to empowering learners to create change in their communities.

Education and Training Specialist II
Jenny is an Education and Training Specialist II with Solari. Jenny specializes in providing mental health awareness and suicide intervention training. She is a certified instructor in Mental Health First Aid. Jenny has extensive experience working within the Arizona school system to provide behavior assistance, mental health guidance, and crisis intervention for youth. She has facilitated mental health and trauma lectures on local podcasts and with a range of businesses. Jenny is passionate about advocacy within the community and is a proponent for clearing the way for every voice to be heard and ensuring her local community feels supported and strong.
