Solari Crisis & Human Services Takes Calls to National 988 LGBTQI+ Youth Line

October 19, 2023

Solari Crisis & Human Services is honored to serve as one of four crisis call centers in the United States taking calls made from throughout the country to the national 988 LGBTQI+ Youth Line. The line is overseen by the federal government’s Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and Solari is contracted to provide this service through Vibrant Emotional Health.

Youth and young adults up to the age of 25 who identify as Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and all other identities or orientations can receive assistance around the clock and every day of the year from crisis specialists trained on issues and risk factors facing this population. In addition to the help provided over the phone, callers also can be connected to local and national resources available to the LGBTQI+ community.

The 988 LGBTQI+ Youth Line was launched in July 2023 and users access the free and confidential service by calling 988, the national Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, and selecting option 3 in the interactive voice response system. As with all calls made to 988, crisis specialists will initially assess for safety by asking the caller if they have thoughts of harming themselves or others. Callers to the line may remain anonymous if they choose.

“This important option on the national 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline creates an opportunity for LGBTQI+ youth across the country to receive safe and supportive care,” says Solari CEO Justin Chase. “Our company is honored to take calls to this vital line, and we are committed to decreasing suicides in the LGBTQI+ community.”
